Really nice sail today as we decided to all sail towards Villaricos. Two Wayfarers with Spanish crews plus one with Dave and Derek, and the FD. Cruiser – Irene was crewed by Ramon, Asun and John and Houri who came for the first part. Great to see John on the tiller after four or five years. We didn’t leave early enough and the wind was steady rather than fast so we got to Palomares by 1.30 and turned around. It was just as well as the wind was dropping near the port and there was a big swell. But the FD and the Vision got their kites up and we all enjoyed sailing together. Would have been great to have stopped and gone ashore but plans are afoot for another trip. The safety boat did a great job looking after us all.
We will miss Jo as she’s going back to Scotland next week. She had an interesting experience on a foiling boat on Mar Menor last week and is looking forward to a Hebridean cruise on a large sailing yacht next week.
